William Lewis Hazelwood, Jr. age 61, of Sebastopol, CA passed away in San Pancho, Nayarit, Mexico on Friday, March 6, 2009 of a pulmonary embolism. William attended Northeastern University where he rowed on a winning crew team and Emerson College, Boston, MA on a basketball scholarship, graduating in 1970. He appeared in the 1969-1970 edition of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. ‘Bill Hazelwood’ to his colleagues, he was a Director/Producer for KPIX and KQED and was Manager of Electronic Media Communications for Crown Zellerbach Corporation. He won a Regional Emmy Award in 1973 as the Producer of the primetime show All Together Now, KPIX. He was an instructor in the Broadcasting and Electronic Communication Arts Department (BECA) at San Francisco State University and founder of Sojourna Productions, a media and distance learning company. William was a wonderful husband, a committed and warm-hearted father and step-father, and a good friend and colleague. He enjoyed Tai Chi, sailing, hiking, ballroom dancing and traveling. His family, friends, coworkers, and students will miss his laughter, kind spirit and wise advice. His memorial will be held on Saturday April 18th, at 12:00 noon at the Center for Spiritual Living, 2075 Occidental Road, Santa Rosa, CA. |
